Using the Custom AppWizard or Project Template->Custom Appwizard and Project Template

For Microsoft Visual C++ Professional Edition 5.0 and 6.0, a Microsoft Developer Studio Custom AppWizard is provided which will create an outline extension for you.  This AppWizard must be installed into the correct location in your Microsoft Developer Studio directory structure as described below following which it will automatically appear as a Visual C++ new project option.

For Visual Studio 2017 a Project Template can be used to create an outline extension.  Installation of this Project Template is described below.
