Getting Started->Loading an 8051 Program into the Virtual Workshop

Your 8051 program will be automatically loaded into the Virtual Workshop as soon as you select any of the commands Go, Step Into, Step Over, Step to Cursor or Trace.

The program that is loaded is the one specified in the output file name field of the Build, Settings Linker tab or, if your are operating in stand-alone mode without any Crossware compiler or assembler tools, it is the one specified in the program file name field of the Build, Settings, Simulator tab.

If the file does not exist the Embedded Development Studio will tell you and simulation will be aborted.  If the file is out-of-date, the Embedded Development Studio will warn you and offer you the chance to rebuild it.

Unless you are operating in stand-alone mode, if your project settings indicate that the file is not in IEEE695 format and does not contain any debug records, the Embedded Development Studio will warn you and offer to change your settings and rebuild your output file.
