Installation

The Simulator/Debugger is supplied as a single DLL (sim.dll) which is loaded by the Embedded Development Studio when a ColdFire chip is the target family.  In addition, parallel port drivers are provided for Windows 9x and Windows NT, 2000 and XP.

When you install the Simulator/Debugger, sim.dll will be copied into <Installation Directory>\ColdFire\bin.  It must remain in this directory and must not be renamed, otherwise it will not be recognised by the Embedded Development Studio.

Also during installation, the installer will detect which operating system is running and install the appropriate parallel port driver.

If Windows 95 or Windows 98 is running, it will install cwrppd01.vdx into the Windows system directory.

If Windows NT, 2000 or XP is running it will install cwrppd01.sys into the Windows System32\drivers directory and install it as a Service.  Administrative privileges are therefore required to install under Windows NT, 2000 or XP.
